  • If you are an athlete or coach looking for an organized and proven approach to developing competitive jumpers then this is THE book. As a rookie high school jumps coach I picked this book up 6 years ago when it was published. Nick clearly outlines how to evaluate and assess athletes and provides clear direction on how to develop each athlete to their fullest potential. His example workout programs, assessment tests and drill inventories allow the individual or coach to develop short, mid and long term workout programs geared to developing exceptionally competitive athletes.

    In my 6 years of coaching, following Nick’s approach, my athletes have won 8 state titles and many more top 10 finishes. Many have gone on to compete at the NCAA level. Other coaches often want to know where we find these incredible athletes - in reality there are a lot of untapped athletes in every program. This book provides the training guidelines and teaching approach that allows all jumpers to really fly.
  • I've read many, many, resources on jumps and listened to plenty of speakers.
    Buck's book is the most informative and science backed book I've ever read on long/triple and it's not even close. It's probably better than any USATF book you'll find by a large margin.
    I hope Nick puts on some more work in the future.
  • I thought I would take a moment and write this review from an athlete’s perspective. I am now a Master’s-level track and field athlete but have been competing and training at a very high-level (in multiple sports) for the last three decades.
    I purchased the book and read it cover to cover in the first 10 days. Since that time, I have constantly went back, section after section, to have many, many questions answered. Not only is Nick an outstanding and talented writer, but this book presents somewhat technical information in an easy-to-read format for both athletes and coaches. Nick’s deep understanding of what’s required to become an elite jumper is just astounding. I reached out to the author a few months after purchasing and he’s been absolutely great.
    Bottom line — I cannot recommend this book enough.
  • Highly recommend this book for anyone who coaches, competes in, enjoys or wants a more thorough understanding of the horizontal jumps. This book is thorough, easy to follow, has so much information that is vital for an athlete or coach to progress in the horizontal jumps. The author has clearly done his homework and has a vast understanding of the subject matter. This book is helpful and has given me so much more information. I now know what I'm doing wrong and what I'm doing right and know how to help my athletes progress. I cannot recommend this book enough! The author backs up all of his theories, information, drills, everything with science. Thank you for a great and helpful read!
  • This book is the Bible for any jumps coach at the youth or high school level! The insight into training and teaching of the horizontal jumps is invaluable. You can tell the passion the author has for his craft and the time and effort he put into creating this masterpiece for all of us coaches! Buy one for yourself and then buy 4 more and gift it to everyone in your jumping network ! This will help us train the future state, regional, national, and hopefully world and Olympic champions someday!
  • I am a Division 1 long and triple jumper and this is the best book that I have come across. It is a great resource for any coaches or athletes to add to their collection. This is a must have book for jumpers it is by far the best horizontal jumps book out there for sample workouts and drills.
